DfT – Bus and coach passenger rights The Department for Transport (DfT) has launched a consultation on recent European Commission proposals for a new regulation on bus and coach passenger rights. Consultation ends on 14 Apr. CLG – Financial viability study of eco-towns Communities and Local Government (CLG) is consulting on a financial viability study prepared by the department and an external team of advisers to assess whether an eco-town could be economically viable in 11 listed locations. Views are sought by 30 Apr. DECC – Aviation in the EU ETS The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) is seeking views on the first set of draft regulations to transpose the first stage of the EU emissions trading directive to include aviation in the European Union Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS). Consultation ends on 14 May. DCMS – ‘Gaming tables’: definition The DCMS has launched a consultation on the government’s proposals for regulations to define a ‘gaming table’. Consultation ends on 15 May. CLG – Tackling racial inequalities CLG is seeking views on improving opportunities for ethnic minorities. Views are sought by 18 May. DECC – Defining ‘carbon neutral’ DECC is seeking views on a draft definition for the term ‘carbon neutral’ that can be used by individuals and organisations in relation to goods and services. Consultation ends on 21 May. Royal College of Nursing – Assisted suicide The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) is seeking views from nurses on assisted suicide in light of recent developments, including those at the Zurich Dignitas facility. Views are sought by 22 May. Home Office – Controls on deactivated firearms The Home Office has launched a consultation on the problems of using deactivated firearms in crime and seeks to explore options for tightening controls. Views are sought by 25 May. DIUS – Apprenticeship standards in England The Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS) has launched a consultation on apprenticeship standards in England that sets out the requirements each recognised apprenticeship framework must comply with. Views are requested by 29 May. DoH – Decontamination of reusable medical devices The Department of Health (DoH) has launched a consultation on the use of decontamination equipment for reprocessing reusable medical devices. Consultation ends on 29 May. Home Office – Ending violence against women The Home Office has launched a consultation to raise awareness and generate public debate on how to end violence against women and girls. Consultation ends on 26 Jun. TfL – ‘London Permit Scheme’ (streetworks) Transport for London (TfL) is seeking views on the proposed new London Permit Scheme, which aims to regulate streetworks in order to smooth traffic flow. Consultation ends in early June.DFT CONSULTS OVER UK AIRPORTS The DfT is consulting on the government’s proposals to reform the economic regulation of the UK airport sector. Under the plans, the Civil Aviation Authority will be given a new primary duty to promote passengers’ interests. Consultation ends on 1 Jun. will focus on whether the current level of external recruitment to the senior civil service is justified. Written evidence is requested by 20 Apr. PASC – Executive pay in the public sector PASC’s inquiry will examine the arrangements for determining pay and other benefits at senior levels in the public sector. The inquiry will focus on civil service posts, and on public appointments made by ministers and by the Crown (for example, most regulators and other non-departmental public bodies or quangos). Written evidence is requested by 20 Apr. Environmental audit committee – ‘Carbon budgets’ The environmental audit committee (EAC) inquiry is asking how well the budgets recommended by the committee on climate change correspond to the emissions reductions required by countries to limit global warming. The inquiry will look at two suggested targets for 2020, and how these will affect the trajectory required to meet the UK’s target for 2050. Written evidence is requested by 27 Apr.
