Organisers expect to exceed last year’s attendance record of nearly 5,000 as interest in the so-called “sunrise sector” spirals. Britain is at the cutting edge of wind and wave technology. TheGovernment’s 2009 budget has just given the renewables industry a £5 billion boost, with wind power being one of the big winners. Not surprisingly, the industry, which employs around 8,000 people and turns over about £290 million per annum, is expected to expand rapidly. All-Energy’09 features more than 300 exhibitors ranging from the Environmental Research Institute to energy companies and manufacturers of hightemperature fuel cell technology.The conference will kick off with a high-end plenary session involving some of the sector’s serious players, including Ed Miliband, Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Jim Mather MSP, the Scottish government’s Minister for Enterprise, Energy and Tourism, and James Wright, Canadian High Commissioner to the UK. Over the two days, discussion groups, seminars and workshops will cover everything from skills and training, presented by theInstitution of Engineering and Technology, to grid and networks, and the future of carbon capture and storage. “There is going to be a lot of lively debate and conference members will be encouraged to participate from the floor,” says Judith Patten, All-Energy conference producer and marketing manager. “It’s a real opportunity for sharing views and learning the latest news about this exciting sector.”All-Energy’09 is being held at the AECC, Bridge of Don, Aberdeen AB23 8BL on Wednesday, May 20 and Thursday, May 21.
