Thursday November 5th - Wednesday November 11th 2009 Now delivered door to door in areas of North Hampshire Work under way on new health centre NORTH HAMPSHIRES PAGE 5 WAR ON NEGLECT Councillors launch campaign to improve fabric of town centre A CAMPAIGN to improve the fabric of town centre commu- nities has been launched in Basingstoke. A group of borough council- lors are angry about the neg- lect they have found in areas such as Oakridge, South Ham and Buckskin. Now they have launched a zero tolerance against neglect campaign and will be lobbying Kingfisher and Sentinel hous- ing associations, Basingstoke council, Hampshire County Council and the police for action. The Labour councillors claim that in many areas bushes are REPORT by Simon Moss growing out of control, pave- ments are breaking up and walls are being allowed to crumble. She said: I visited Oakridge in October, as the ward council- lors had raised a number of concerns about the area. At the time of visiting, it was clear that there were issues that needed addressing. Some of the areas identified were also owned by Sentinel Housing Association and Hampshire County Council. As a result, the head of envi- ronmental care is meeting with the relevant organisations to resolve current issues and Continued on page 2 Cllr Sean Keating and, inset, fly-tipping in South Ham Inside: Competitions 18 Entertainment & Leisure 21-26 Motors 27-33 Classifieds 34-37 Jobs 38 Sport 39-40 Y M OU D IT R BA EA SUB NE NO S LE IS W IN R H F SE OR W O GS SH I RV UN PE TO IP IC RI N KE IN E VA L MITSUBISHI VALUE SERVICING Call us now and BOOK your SERVICE for ANY time over the following 12 months!
