Microsoft in Lyngby is
pioneering some of the world's
most advanced IT-solutions
Microsoft in Lyngby is one of the focal points when it comes to the company's investment in artificial intelligence. The
address on Kanalvej serves as the global nerve center for the development of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Copilot.

According to a survey conducted
by Microsoft on business trends,
nearly 9 out of 10 respondents hope
that artificial intelligence can help
reduce the workload when it comes
to performing repetitive tasks. Unfortunately, artificial intelligence has
not been readily available to companies of this size until now, but that is
changing significantly.
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business
Central is the brand for Microsoft's
ERP system targeted at small and
medium-sized businesses that need
not only financial management but
also control over the entire supply
chain, from production to inventory.
Thanks to Microsoft Dynamics 365
Copilot, the use of artificial intelligence is now available to all companies, both large and small.
Focus on the SMB segment
Artificial intelligence is increasingly
on everyone's lips, and what's interesting is that most of the development of these new features is happening at Microsoft in Lyngby. These
features will, over time, make everyday life easier for SMBs, especially
those with limited IT-resources, in
many areas. This will allow them to
focus more on their core business.
FUTURE has met with Mike Morton, Vice President, Dynamics 365
Business Central; Mike Borg Cardona, Principal Product Manager;
and Horina Serbanescu, Principal
Group Engineering Manager. They
have no doubt that the Business Central platform, along with artificial
intelligence, will be a significant advantage for SMBs in the global and
international competition.
Danish roots are an advantage
"We are happy and proud of the development work happening here in
Lyngby, and it's entirely natural to
ask why Lyngby, in particular, has
made a mark on the world map when
it comes to software development
expertise. Firstly, there is a historical
connection dating back to our acquisition of Navision in 2002, which has
given us access to core competence
in various areas. Secondly, the local

ecosystem in the area is essential,"
says Mike Morton.
Here, he refers to institutions like
the Technical University of Denmark
(DTU) and the collaboration they
have with one of the world's leading
technical universities. Moreover, the
entire Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality
is blessed with significant technological expertise, including software
development competence. An old
saying goes that where good people
are, more good people will come, and
according to Microsoft, the development team in Lyngby includes more
than 50 different nationalities.
A highly international environment
Around 70% of the employees have
international backgrounds, which
greatly solidifies the municipality
as an innovation district that has
earned respect and interest worldwide. Mike Morton is pleased that
Microsoft in Lyngby is focused on
artificial intelligence, as he believes
that, Business Central is Microsoft's flagship product for SMBs.
Additionally, the Danish corporate
culture supports this development.
"Compared to the US and many
other places in the world, Europe
in general, and perhaps Denmark
in particular, is home to exactly the
type and size of companies we target with Business Central. So, in reality, it may not be so surprising that
Lyngby has become a central hub for
us when it comes to our work with
artificial intelligence," says Mike
Morton further.
The journey has just begun
When talking about artificial intelligence, it's natural to ask how the
average user is reacting. Microsoft's
own survey may show great interest
in artificial intelligence, but FUTURE
asks Mike Borg Cardona about his
impression. He says that artificial
intelligence has been here for a while,
but it's only now that the technology is truly spreading to the general
public.
"Many of our users hope and believe that artificial intelligence can
help them become more productive
in their everyday lives. I'm also confident that this will be the case, but
Mike Morton, Vice President, Dynamics 365 Business Central; Horina Serbanescu,
Principal Software Engineer Manager; and Mike Borg Cardona, Principal Program
Manager, Dynamics 365 Business Central, have no doubt that the Business Central
platform, combined with artificial intelligence, will be a significant advantage,
especially for the SME (Small and Medium-sized Enterprise) segment, when it
comes to establishing a presence in the global and international competition. This

we've only just begun our journey
into the land of new possibilities. At
the same time, it's equally important
that we develop our software on ethical principles. As a technology provider, we have a huge responsibility
to do things the right way," says Mike
Borg Cardona.
Lyngby will remain important
Horina Serbanescu agrees with this
perspective. She says that artificial
intelligence is also naturally changing the mindset of developers, so it's
essential not only to think about new
features but also to keep ethics in
mind during software development.
Indeed, this becomes more and more
critical, she points out. The journey
into the land of new possibilities
will never truly end, and each day
will bring new perspectives that will
naturally affect Microsoft as an organization.
If we take a moment to look into the
crystal ball, both Mike Borg Cardona,
Mike Morton, and Horina Serbanescu
are confident that in the future, Microsoft in Lyngby will continue to be a
central hub for the development of ar-
tificial intelligence for the company's
solutions. They have a team here that
is looking at possibilities for integrating the technology across the various
platforms they work on.
Democratizing technology
All three also agree on the importance of maintaining the attitude
that artificial intelligence should be
developed by humans for humans.
Mike Morton emphasizes that the
name Copilot has been chosen carefully. It is deliberate that it's called
Copilot because the goal of artificial
intelligence is to help a company's
employees become better at making the right decisions on a qualified
basis, not to make them redundant.
"With Microsoft Dynamics 365
Business Central and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Copilot, we are helping
to democratize technology. Artificial
intelligence is no longer reserved for
large companies. Now, everyone has
access to it, which will greatly enhance the competitiveness of small
and medium-sized businesses in
terms of their ability to be agile and
adaptable," concludes Mike Morton.
